Parati Competitive Rowing, the Woodlands rowing club serving 48 area teens, took home two silver and two bronze medals at Central Youth Rowing Championships held in Oklahoma City May 4-5, 2013. More than 400 high school rowers from five states competed for the title of Regional Champion in each 2K event.
Half of Parati’s entries advanced to the finals with four boats winning medals, an amazing accomplishment for its inaugural year. Daniel Dalton and Clay Jones took silver in the men’s Varsity double with a 7:29:56 time. Blake Eastwick and Hugo Gomez won silver in the men’s Varsity lightweight double with a photo finish time of 7:29:76. Audrey Brown and Maddie Miller took a bronze in the women’s Varsity lightweight double with 8:26:68, and John Puzz won a bronze in the men’s Varsity single event with 8:25:07.
Gold and silver medal winners advance to Youth Nationals held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in June. Parati is proud to represent the Woodlands rowing community at Nationals with Dalton and Jones in the men’s Varsity double, and Eastwick and Gomez in the men’s Varsity lightweight double.
Head Coach Mike Rosman is very proud of Parati rowers. “Our rowers have worked hard all year, and I am proud of them for giving their best effort. The 28mph winds and choppy water were a challenge to navigate but our rowers showed endurance thanks to our rigorous training program. I look forward to seeing two of our boats compete at Nationals. Many of our rowers are underclassmen, so we are a force to be reckoned with next year.”
