John Puzz from Parati Competitive Rowing placed 10th in the Men’s 1x at the US Rowing Youth National Championships held in Sacramento, CA. More than 1,800 rowers from 133 programs across the country traveled to compete at Lake Natoma June 13 – 15.
Parati also had a strong showing in the Men’s 4x; John Puzz raced with boatmates Clay Jones, Andrew Gomez, and Blake Eastwick in the Petite Final for a 12th place finish. Lauren Musial and Amy Smith came in 19th in the Women’s 2x, and Eric Hoster and Ty Ramond placed 21st in the Men’s Lightweight 2x.
Head Coach Mike Rosman is very proud of his athletes. “Parati rowers have a lot of heart and an exceptional work ethic. We are a small volunteer program racing against teams 300 rowers deep and did very well. Puzz and Smith will be returning as seniors next season and I expect Parati to build on this year’s success. We have a lot of kids with their eyes on the prize – to compete at Nationals in 2015.”
Nationals was the final high school race for 3 Parati seniors continuing their rowing career in college: Lauren Musial will row for the University of San Diego, Clay Jones for MIT in Boston, and Andrew Gomez for the US Naval Academy.
