Parati Competitive Rowing won three State Championship trophies at the Texas Rowing Championships in Austin on April 18-19. Sixteen youth clubs raced head to head on Lady Bird Lake for the state’s top rowing honor. Parati also brought home three silver and two bronze medals.
Winning the trophy in the Women’s Jr 2- were seniors Amy Smith and Audrey Brown. Both girls have secured rowing scholarships at University of Texas and Tulsa University respectively for next year. Freshmen Eddie Smith and Andrew Renier won the Men’s Jr. Novice 2x event, and also won in the Men’s Jr. Novice 4x with teammates Mauro Rodriguez and Sam Schofield.
John Puzz won silver in the Men’s Jr. 1x. Sophomores Reid Marlow and Dylan Dalpedri took silver in the Men’s Jr. lightweight 2x, and Amy Smith and Audrey Brown won silver in the Women’s Jr. 2x. Bronze medalists include Cooper Jones and Eduardo Merida in the Men’s Jr. JV 2x, and John Puzz, Jack Schofield, Jacob Castro and Nate Eastwick in the Men’s Jr. 4x.
Parati is prepared for success at the regional US Rowing Central Youth Championships in OKC on May 2-3. Regional qualifiers will travel to Bradenton, Florida in June 2015 to compete at US Rowing Youth Nationals.
