Parati traveled to Rancho Cordova, CA on June 8-10 with 8 crews and 20 rowers to race against the country’s finest at US Rowing Youth Nationals. Earning bronze medals were Eddie Smith and Cooper Jones in the Men’s Jr 2x, and Dylan Dalpedri and Morgan Pirie in the Men’s Jr Lightweight 2x. Grace Butero and novice rower Payten Kooyers placed 4th, narrowly missing the podium in the Women’s Jr 2x. This is the first time Parati, or any Houston team, has earned a medal at youth rowing’s most prestigious event. Three of the four medalists will row in college; Jones at MIT, Dalpedri and Pirie at Marietta, and Butero at Duke. This team is on the rise and has a very bright future.
